Ray and Abi Jereza: Taytay mission
“The three days that my husband and I spent as volunteers at the Taytay medical mission was certainly eye-opening and humbling for both of us. At first, we felt overwhelmed by all the people who had come seeking medical attention. How could a group possibly make a dent or difference in these people’s needs? But, not too long after, we could see that these people were just more than happy that we were paying attention to their needs and health issues. They were just very grateful for the opportunity to be seen and heard. Sure it was hot and tiring, but, seeing how the people traveled long distances and waited hours in line to be seen made it worth all the effort for us.
Even before the end of Day 1 of the mission, both of us had decided that we wanted to return and do it all again next year! We left feeling fulfilled but also felt that we could do more. The locals were very appreciative and could not thank us enough, but honestly, my husband and I felt that they deserve OUR GRATITUDE more for their hospitality, patience and for trusting in us. We truly appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community by sharing our talents, resources and time. Looking forward to the next Mission…God willing!”
